Driving towards Norheimsund we passed apple, pear and raspberry farms; they were a pretty sight. On one side was the fjord, calm and peaceful. On the other side water is gushing down the mountains onto the farmlands.
Fresh apples have a taste that is different from those we buy from supermarkets. They are sweeter which is balanced by some tartness. They have character.
The pears were still ripening.
The raspberries were plucked just then from this farm, and ‘rain washed’ .
These are the freshest raspberries I will ever eat. Like a piece of heaven!
We stopped at a small local restaurant, facing the fjord, to eat lunch. It was quite busy for a small place.
We ate sandwiches. Simple, fresh and tasty. Memorable.
